Knowing Your Counselor
After a lengthy period of time developing software in the Midwest, I recognized that I felt called to explore areas in which I suspected I might have very different gifts. In Kansas I had experienced and led small groups for men, getting a taste of what it means to honor significant issues in the lives of others.
A move to the Pacific Northwest led to a new sense that I was in for more than exploration. I graduated from Mars Hill Graduate School with a Master of Arts in Counseling.
I found that working in areas of sexual abuse was a calling in itself, an opportunity to awaken in men and women the sense that matters deeply affecting the heart can be discussed in a safe and restorative environment. Also, my background in a technical field provides me with unique insight into the lives of those in the nine-to-five (seven-to-seven?) business world. Where necessary, I help to bridge clients from their work to matters that impact them in even more fundamental ways.
Eating disorders have become another unique interest for me. I write on the subject of eating disorders for About.com.
I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Washington.
